While you enjoy your meal at the table, your cat will look at you with pleading eyes. Could she please have a little bit of your milk / cheese / bacon rump?
Our advice is not to give in to that! The food that is good for us is often difficult to digest for your cat.
But which food is easily digestible? In this blog you can read everything about the digestibility of cat food.
Good cat food for a healthy cat
Where your cat mainly pays attention to taste - hello picky males - you go for quality. But how do you know if the food you are feeding is good? For that you have to take a look in the litter box. That is to say the big message. If it is too thin or too firm, it is a sign that your cat is not able to digest the food properly.
The coat is also a good reflection of the quality of the food. A dull coat and a lot of hair loss often indicate a lack of vitamins and minerals. Proper nutrition ensures a radiant coat. The more shine your cat has, the healthier your cat is!
Choose food that suits your cat

What must a good feed meet?
First, it is important to buy food that is tailored to your cat's needs. For example, a kitten needs more proteins and other vitamins than an adult cat. And when your cat reaches a respectable age, her senior body requires extra support for healthy joints and good kidney function.
Does your cat mainly live indoors?
Then a special food for indoor cats is recommended. This contains fewer calories, but the necessary amount of vitamins and minerals. This way you prevent overweight, while your cat remains healthy.
High in animal proteins and fats, low in carbohydrates.
Cats are carnivores. In nature, they only eat meat (okay, not counting the one blade of grass to get rid of their hairball). To meet their natural nutritional needs, your cat therefore needs food with lots of animal protein. Fat is also important for your cat. It is an important source of energy and provides essential fatty acids to stay healthy.
Carbohydrates are more difficult to digest in the cat's body. Yet they are necessary to give chunks their solid structure and they provide glucose for the brain. However, is the first ingredient on the label grain, corn, or rice? Then there are probably (too) many carbohydrates in the food.
Digestibility of the diet
As mentioned, meat is the easiest to digest for cats. The higher the meat content in the feed, the better. A handy trick to determining if a cat food is highly digestible is to look at the recommended amount per day for your cat's weight. The less you have to feed per day, the better the quality.
